After-school programs provide vital academic support, including homework help and tutoring, and promote positive engagement in school. These programs also help the economy by allowing parents to participate in the workforce and by providing employment opportunities. A budget that does not prioritize needy children and working families fails the test of fairness and opportunity for all New Yorkers.
