Children's Aid Appoints Kevin Allan as Chief Development Officer

The Children's Aid Society today announced the hiring of Kevin Allan as its new chief development officer.  Allan will lead all private and public fundraising efforts to ensure that Children’s Aid can best support the children and families it serves at 50 sites across New York City.

“Kevin Allan brings tremendous strategic fundraising experience and knowledge to Children’s Aid at exactly the right time,” said Phoebe C. Boyer, president and CEO of the organization. “His work at a number of outstanding organizations with a variety of missions should prove to be excellent preparation as he and his team demonstrate to individuals, institutions, and government agencies that our multi-service approach to human services  is not only comprehensive but also the most powerful investment in the fight against poverty.”

Immediately prior to joining Children’s Aid, Allan was senior vice president of development at AmeriCares, an emergency response and global health organization committed to saving lives and building healthier futures for people in crisis in the U.S. and around the world. During his tenure at AmeriCares, private operating and program revenues increased by more than 45%, and the organization raised $25 million for regional and localized disasters, including the Ebola crisis in West Africa, Typhoon Haiyan, and Hurricane Sandy.

Prior to joining AmeriCares in 2012, Allan worked with nonprofit clients to build successful fundraising programs as a senior consultant at Changing Our World, Inc., a fundraising and philanthropic management consulting firm. He oversaw the company’s global portfolio serving clients including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Sabin Vaccine Institute, and UNICEF. Allan’s domestic clients included AIDS Project Los Angeles, Texas Children’s Hospital, and the YMCA of New York City.

Earlier in his career, Allan was a development director at Stonewall Community Foundation, worked in the family office of Ambassador John Langeloth Loeb, Jr., and led service-learning experiences for college students at Manhattanville College’s Duchesne Center for Religion and Social Justice.

Allan has taught fundraising and development courses at the Milano School for Public Engagement at New School University, where he received his M.S. in nonprofit management. He earned his bachelor’s degree at Manhattanville College.
