Children's Aid Applauds President Obama's Tax Fairness Pledge

Richard Buery, Children’s Aid Society President and CEO:

“We applaud President Obama’s pledge to reduce income disparity in this country. His proposed changes to the tax code show that he understands the dire implications of the current imbalance,” said The Children's Aid Society President and CEO Richard Buery. "We need a more equitable system to ensure that the wealthy pay their fair share of taxes, particularly during a time when low-income and middle-income Americans are shouldering heavy burdens due to high unemployment. In New York City we should reinstate the Personal Income Tax, with the revenue dedicated toward essential supports for children and families – after-school and early childhood programs  - to give our youth born into poverty a fighting chance to achieve the promise of America.”
