New York, NY • July 5, 2023 – Children’s Aid announced today its Go!Healthy nutrition education program received a grant of $50,000 from Bayer Fund, a philanthropic arm of Bayer in the U.S. This grant will be used to expand the Go!Chefs program for children and food box distributions for families.
“Our Go!Healthy initiative promotes lifelong healthy habits through hands-on activities, nutrition education, and access to resources to live active, healthy lifestyles,” said Phoebe C. Boyer, President and CEO of Children’s Aid. “We are very grateful for this continued support from Bayer Fund, which will help us expand our Go!Chefs culinary program for middle school students and provide direct relief to even more New York City families through our food box program.”
Go!Chefs is a hands-on food and nutrition education program that teaches children how to prepare healthy, wholesome meals at home. Through this grant, Go!Chefs will get the opportunity to refine its recently updated curriculum and expand the program to four additional middle schools.
Further, the grant will underwrite food boxes for select families participating in our nutrition education programming. Food boxes have been a vital resource to families in need throughout the pandemic and continue to be essential during the city’s recovery. Through this funding, Children’s Aid will be able to deliver more than 2,300 additional food boxes to families.
“Through Bayer Fund’s giving, we’re enabling and strengthening organizations that are working to make real, sustainable impacts in their local communities across the United States,” said Al Mitchell, President of Bayer Fund. “Programs like Go!Healthy help combat the critical issue of food insecurity, and we’re proud to play a role with helping even more people in our community have access to healthy, nutritious food.
In 2022, Bayer Fund awarded more than $13.4 million to over 2,700 charitable and nonprofit organizations to help address essential needs in Food and Nutrition, STEM Education and Health & Wellness. Since 2017, nonprofit organizations across the U.S. have received nearly $90 million.
