On Sunday, our Preventive Services team hosted the 12th annual Hogs & Heifers holiday party. The party, which is part of the Gary Marana Toy Run, is sponsored by Harley Davidson and the RedRum Bike Club. This year, two dozen families and 50 children enjoyed a festive and joyous day.
The children participated in ornament making, face painting, and designing their own stockings. They also got the chance to sit with Santa – and, of course, to get presents! We gave away more than 300 toys for the children and more than 100 Amazon gift cards for the teenagers. Additionally, we hosted a raffle with even more gift cards for families.
Children’s Aid President Phoebe Boyer and Vice President Georgia Boothe were also in attendance to see the children and families celebrate such a special time of year.
“This is a truly special event for us each year,” said Frances Lopez, senior director of Family Support Services/Solution Based Casework Model. “The kids light up at seeing Santa and really enjoy the arts and crafts, games, dancing, food and leaving with a toy! This year’s event was extra special because it was the first time in person again in three years. Staff, the bikers, and the families really enjoyed spending time together, laughing and enjoying the holiday fun. Bringing folks back together and being able to share with them is impactful and meaningful on so many levels.”
